Talk with the Doc: Prostate Health

September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month and if you’re a man over 50 years of age, it’s time to talk about it. According to the American Cancer Society, one in seven men will develop prostate cancer in his lifetime.

There are certain groups of people at higher risk – both for being diagnosed with, and dying from, prostate cancer. Early detection offers a better opportunity for successful treatment and it may be necessary to work with your doctor to define a screening plan for prostate health, especially if you fall into one of the high-risk categories, or are experiencing any urinary or sexual dysfunction symptoms.
